Best diet for achieving a lean body

Back to GHN Blog

Working out doesn’t always have to be about achieving muscle growth and size, in fact, many want to achieve a more lean physique.

Sometimes achieving lean muscle can be the hardest of all however, a strict focus on workouts and the right diet can help you to achieve your goals.

Spending hours in the gym is important, but without the right nutrition on board, your progress will be halted in its tracks, as you end up scratching around for answers.

Fear not though, we at GH Nutrition recognise the importance of building lean muscle, and that’s why we’ve provided you with this handy blog to note down the key foods and supplements you should aim for to achieve the desired body shape.

Meats

If it isn’t a big staple of any diet then why not? We’re talking about chicken, the protein-rich, low fat and vitamin fuelled-champion of the white meat world.

It’s good for the body and is a cost-effective way of getting your protein fix.

Red meat is usually a big no due to the high levels of fat. But if you’re able to pick up lean beef (80% and higher) then they will contain far less fat and excellent levels of protein.

Fish

Salmon is king here, not only does it provide you with various health benefits but it’s also perfect for building lean muscle.

Salmon is filled with protein, B vitamins and vital Omega-3 fatty acids.

Tuna is another key fish for lean muscle building. It helps to slow down the rate you lose muscle mass and is rich in protein and several vitamins that keep your energy and performance levels at their peak.

Prawns are an ideal choice for those looking to keep lean, thanks to low carbs and fat and high levels of protein.

Other products

What came first the chicken or the egg? We don’t know for sure, but what we do know is eggs play a vital role in supporting lean muscle build (just like chicken).

Other beneficial foods include Greek yoghurt, nuts, edamame, quinoa and various other superfoods.

As long as you aim for a low carb, low fat and high protein diet, as well as working hard in the gym, then you will see lean muscle progress in no time.

Supplements

Supplements are a great way of getting any missing nutrients into your body.

Our Diet Protein Plus aims to do exactly that, giving you the protein you desire without the dreaded calories.

It not only aids you building lean muscle, but it is also great at reducing muscle tissue breakdown because no one wants to be sidelined with an injury during training.

It supports and encourages fat loss, as well as helping muscles grow and repair. The product is enhanced with advanced antioxidants also.
