What is the Best Type of Protein Shake for me?

Back to GHN Blog

Protein shakes are one of the most popular supplements in the UK, but amazingly, some people are still unsure at what they do and the immediate benefits.

Many associate them with bulked-up bodybuilders looking to get even bigger biceps, but this is a common misconception, with gaining muscle mass just one of the uses.

In fact, protein shakes come in all shapes and sizes, with some aiding recovery, some weight loss and some that simply are there to provide you with excess energy for when you’re always on the go.

Should I use protein shakes?

Of course, you can, you don’t need to be going to the gym 24/7 to see the benefits. In fact, many often choose to simply use the shakes as a supplement for when they can’t get enough protein throughout the day.

If you like to work out, then the shakes can prove beneficial either for gaining a more toned or lean physique or for helping to bulk up and add some muscle mass.

They’re also ideal for aiding recovery, allowing you to work out or exercise without the same levels of fatigue and pain you may normally experience.

How to make the perfect protein shake? (We call this the fun part!)

Protein shakes are designed to give you all the benefits you may need, but they might not always taste the best.

That’s why we’ve come up with a couple of quick-fire recipes to turn that watered-down shake into a delicious, healthy and high-protein treat.

For the chocolate lovers - Choco-banana peanut butter blend;

Simply add the following then blend…

1 scoop of GHN Chocolate All-In-One Whey Protein

1 banana (fresh or frozen)

1 tablespoon of peanut butter (no added sugar option)

½ glass of almond milk

Ice cubes

For the strawberry lovers - Strawberry shortcake shake;

Simply add the following then blend…

1 scoop of GHN Strawberry Ultimate Competition Whey

6-12 strawberries (fresh or frozen)

2 sugar free biscuits

Ice cubes
